| “What really moved us to purchase Trinium-TMS was the ease of use; especially the usability of the dispatch screen. Being able to view all your jobs and drivers on the same screen allows our dispatchers to execute in real-time, allowing each dispatcher to handle more drivers per day which translates into more revenue.”

August 2007 Trinium Customers Improving Dispatch Efficiency through Deployment of New Mobile Application
Trinium Technologies, the leading provider of software for the intermodal trucking industry, has deployed its Trinium MobileComm Module to various customers, from small single terminal operations to large multi-terminal operations. “We wanted to improve the efficiency of our dispatch department. Since we mainly use owner operators we also wanted a mobile application that could be used on a driver’s cell phone to mitigate the hardware cost,” said Jim Horvitz, president of Container Connection in Montebello, California. The Java-based application, designed and developed by Trinium, is loaded onto a Java-enabled cell phone already used by the drivers. The mobile application provides a direct connection to and from the Trinium Dispatch Module. The dispatcher is able to send detailed dispatch information to the driver’s cell phone with a few mouse clicks from the dispatch screen. The driver receives the detailed dispatch information on the cell phone and prompts status updates on the phone, which update the dispatch system in real-time. “One the best practice initiatives that was discussed at our user conference was how to improve a company’s dispatch efficiency, more specifically their driver-to-dispatcher ratio. Our mobile application was solely designed to do that, and do it without a large cost for additional hardware for the drivers,” said Michael Thomas, CEO for Trinium Technologies. The Trinium MobileComm Module was designed to manage the complicated multi-leg dispatch workflow of intermodal trucking. Trinium was also focused on a developing a user-friendly application that would benefit the drivers. “For an owner operator time is money. Waiting around for a dispatch costs a driver money. With MobileComm, our drivers no longer wait around for their dispatches, which translates into more turns per day which benefits the driver and the company, “ said Horvitz. In the latest version of the MobileComm application, Trinium has added Store-and-Forward functionality that enables the driver to utilize the application even if there is no cell coverage at his location, a Self Assign feature which enables a driver to assign himself an empty or full dispatch on the phone, and MobileComm efficiency reports that enable the trucking company to monitor usage by the drivers and dispatchers.
